iPhone 4 Gets iPhone 4S Features With IOS5 Update

For the thousands of consumers who bought an iPhone 4 and have recently learned of the new iPhone 4S release but cannot buy the new phone as they are still committed to their existing contract there has been some good news.

Apple have just released their new iOS5 software allowing existing iPhone 4 users to update their phone with over 200 new features that will come as standard on the new iPhone 4S.

How Much Are Ipad

These include the new iCloud service which is able to sync photos, music, contacts, apps, documents and calendar with any other Apple devices such as the iPad 2 that the user owns, initially on sign up the user is allocated 5GB of space which can be upgraded to 10, 20 or even 50GB directly from their iPhone 4.

Another new service introduced with the iOS5 is iMessage which is very much like the existing Blackberry Messenger service and allows users to share locations, photos and contacts free of charge as well as send free SMS style text messages.

Also included in the update is an upgrade to the existing iPhone 4 camera which increases the speed it takes to capture a picture by using a two touch function on the main home button for instant access even when the phone is locked, no more needing to enter a security code.

Other new features of note include a photo editing suite which acts very much like a mobile Photoshop for cropping, rotating and removing red-eye from pictures, there also the new iTunes Match included free which syncs and stores all of the users music.

The process of upgrading the iPhone 4 with the new iOS5 software is fairly uncomplicated although not quite as easy as an Android update:

Open iTunes software and click 'Check for Updates' in the Menu, you're looking for iTunes 10.5

The user should then plug in their iPhone at which point they will be prompted to download iOS5

Upon clicking 'Download and Update' the user simply needs to follow the on-screen prompts.

Once downloaded, set up an iCloud account and enable the locations services.

Although some of the new features found in the latest iPhone 4S are not included in the update such as the new 'Siri' voice recognition software, users of the iPhone 4 can now enjoy many of the new features in the new phone without having to invest in Apple's latest product.

Media - Connect DLNA App For iPad

I've had quite a few questions regarding DLNA setup for iPad since my last article on the topic. My apologies to faithful readers for not writing on matter sooner but my reason was there wasn't much to write about. The iPad can run all iPhone DLNA apps but native iPad DLNA apps have been slow to release. I've tested quite a few DLNA apps on my iPhone and this is media:connect is one of my favorites. The basic player is 99 cents, and you can upgrade to the premium app for .99.

Over the weekend I tested media:connect on my iPad and can report back that it works on the iPad even without native support. Media:connect for iPad is one of the easiest to use DLNA application in the iTunes store. Media:connect Advanced edition packages a media player, server, and controller into one powerful app. I can download music and videos on my iPad, and play them on my Media PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.

How Much Are Ipad

Standard Edition

The standard edition is available for 99 cents and includes the audio player with Twitter capabilities. This edition is designed to allow you to try out their software, and you can choose to upgrade to the Advanced Edition later on. It only allows you to play music on compatible digital media servers such as Windows 7 and any DLNA certified NAS device. I've only tested the app using a Windows 7 Media server but media:connect also supports Twonky Media or TVersity if you use those systems. For those who just want to listen to music from your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad on your home theater system, the standard edition is all you need.

Advanced Edition

The advanced edition costs .99 and allows you to play DRM-free video and images as well as audio. When streaming your music, video, and image files from your iPad to your DLNA network devices, you are limited to file types the iPad supports. An example of what this means is flash video can't be played from on your TV if it's streamed from your iPad. This is an iPad issue and not a media:connect issue, so whatever DLNA app you buy for iPad will have this limitation. The Advanced Edition also includes a controller that allows you to control remotely digital media renderers such as your Xbox 360 Media Center and Extender, XBMC (for MAC and Linux), as well as Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7. This effectively turns your iPad/iPhone into a remote control as you don't have to leave the couch to put in a new movie if you have digitized your video collection. In addition to having a media player and media controller, the advanced edition incorporates a digital media server which allows all your other home devices to access content from your iPad. If you want to watch content offline or away from your home network, media:connect allows you to download content from your iPad to other devices and vice versa.

In conclusion, media:connect offers a working and stable DLNA player for your iPad. Hopefully the developer of this app releases a native application soon to take advantage of the larger screen size, but if you can deal with an iPhone size controls, you can't go wrong with this app for your iPad.

In the area of price the HP laptops are going to be generally less expensive. Toshiba laptops do cost more, but as you will see there is a reason for that. HP doesn't have very good customer service. If you are concerned with being able to get results if you have problems with your HP laptop, then you might want to go with the Toshiba. This being said, HP builds a very sturdy and well performing machine. Toshiba laptops are filled with high quality components, one reason for the increased price. Their customer service is outstanding, they really stand behind their products in a big way.

When it comes to performance it is all about the components used to build the laptop. Toshiba is hands down better in this category. They build a laptop that will last for a long time and probably won't have any need for service with regular use, and in many cases regular abuse. HP uses good components but not quite as good as Toshiba, so they don't really measure up here. Both computers come bundled with different programs and this usually has more to do with the retail outlet you purchase from than the manufacturer. Don't let this be a deciding factor in choosing your laptop.

The bottom line for these two laptops is going to come to your preference and price range. An HP laptop will function well and will do what you ask it to, so will Toshiba. The Toshiba will cost you more up front, but chances are it will much longer without fail than the HP will.
